Picking up today's food.

Picking up today's food.

I am feeling much better today. My innards still grumble and rumble but not as much as yesterday. I am finding myself thinking less about being hungry, and when I do, I DRINK THE JUICE. I feel a bit wiggy and out-of-sorts, spacey and goofy. But I am able to concentrate and have been working non-stop today. I told all this to Matt, who happened to be at JuiceLand when I went to pick up today’s “food,” and he said that is because the toxins are coming out of my body.

“Let me ask you a question: would you rather feel like you do right now or horribly hungover?”  I don’t hesitate when I answer “I’ll take this!” and he laughs. Now, Matt is not a  teetotaler or anything of the sort, having experienced a few horrible hangovers, he speaks from experience. After all we met in 2008 when he had a brief run at serving fresh-pressed juice cocktails at The Belmont (see my review of that event in the Austin Chronicle)

Today’s menu is pretty much the same as it has been the last couple of days. But with the impending cold front moving in, I wanted to have something hot to drink. I needed hand and dish soap as well so I made myself go to Central Market. “This is a true test of your will and strength!” says Matt grinning.  Alright then, I can do this. As soon as I pulled in the parking lot, the smell of grilled onions and beef about knocked me out. Juice in hand, I moved swiftly and picked up a box of Yerba Mate for breakfast and my favorite blend from Zhi Tea, Sweet Desert Delight, for nighttime. I grabbed the kitchen supplies and headed out the door toward home. I passed the going to Central Market hungry challenge!
